In 1929 my grandparents purchased Lakeside Farm and 60 acres of land on Pleasant Pond in the historic Quaker District of Henniker, New Hampshire. For fifty years ”the farm”, as it was affectionately known, was not a working farm. It was a retreat where extended family gathered weekends and summers to enjoy the surrounding rural countryside and create wonderful memories.
In 1978 I moved to the farm permanently. During the next forty years I married my wife, Deb, we raised our daughter, and I pursued a career in health services management. In our “spare time”, we completely renovated and modernized the ”old“ farmhouse, cleared forest land into fields, and built two barns from wood logged from our land. Motivated by a desire to preserve the pristine surrounding area, we began acquiring adjacent property. The farm now encompasses over 350 acres, preserved for future generations. .
In 2018, after retiring from my career in medical administration, I had more time to pursue my longtime passion for wood. The result was the creation of Woodworks at Lakeside Farm in 2024. We are now dedicated to harvesting trees from the forest of Lakeside Farm and transforming those trees into milled, kiln dried, flattened, pieces of wood that our customers can further transform into something special.
